According to the National Safe Kids Campaign, more than 30 million children participate in organized sports in the U.S. and even more participate in unorganized sports for recreation such as skateboarding or bicycling. Approximately 750,000 children are treated in hospital emergency rooms each year for sports related injuries. These injuries place a large amount of physical stress into the body, causing misalignments in the spine that affect the overall performance of the nervous system. These misalignments, or subluxations, can also occur in the extremities (like the shoulder, wrist, ankle, or knee).
